Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
We understand travel plans can change. This policy explains how cancellations, date changes, and refunds are handled for tours, private chauffeur bookings, and hotel arrangements made through Legacy India Tours. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions.
This page is provided as a general template and is not a substitute for independent legal advice. Please have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer, and confirmed against your actual hotel/supplier contracts, before relying on it for your business.
1. How to Cancel
To cancel or request a change, email us at info@legacyindiatours.com with your booking reference. Your cancellation is effective from the date we confirm receipt in writing — not the date you send the request.
2. Standard Cancellation Fees
Unless a different schedule is specified in your written proposal (for example, during peak festival periods — see below), the following tiered cancellation fees apply, calculated as a percentage of your total tour cost:
| Cancellation Window | Cancellation Fee |
|---|---|
| 60+ days before arrival | Deposit only (non-refundable portion as per your proposal) |
| 30–59 days before arrival | 50% of total tour cost |
| 15–29 days before arrival | 75% of total tour cost |
| 0–14 days before arrival / no-show | 100% of total tour cost |
3. Peak Festival Periods
For tours during high-demand periods — Diwali, Holi, the Pushkar Fair, and similar dates — many of our hotel partners apply their own, often stricter, non-refundable or early-payment terms. Where this applies to your booking, the specific cancellation schedule will be stated clearly in your written proposal and will take precedence over the standard tiers above.
4. Date Changes
We'll always try to accommodate a date change rather than a cancellation. Requests made 30 or more days before arrival can usually be rescheduled free of charge, subject to hotel and vehicle availability at the new dates (rate differences, if any, will be passed on). Requests within 30 days are treated as a cancellation of the original dates under the tiers above, with a new booking made for the revised dates.
5. Refund Method & Timing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 14 business days of the cancellation being confirmed in writing. Any bank charges, currency conversion losses, or payment gateway fees incurred on the original payment or the refund are non-refundable.
6. Cancellations by Us
In the rare event we need to cancel a confirmed booking (for example, due to circumstances beyond our control), we will offer you a choice of an alternative itinerary of comparable value, or a full refund of amounts paid for the cancelled services.
7. Non-Refundable Items
Certain items — such as domestic flight tickets, train tickets, and select festival-period hotel bookings — may be non-refundable from the moment they are booked, as dictated by the supplier's own policy. Where this applies, it will be flagged clearly in your written proposal before you confirm your booking.
8. Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption. This can help recover costs in situations — illness, family emergencies, missed connections — that fall outside what our cancellation policy covers.
9. Questions
If you have questions about this policy before or after booking, email info@legacyindiatours.com.
